Dr. Norman Beaupré: Preserving his Franco-American culture

In his own words: Dr. Norman Beaupré shares highlights from his life

Dr. Beaupré, who grew up in a working-class family, shared his journey from working in shoe shops and the Pepperell Mill to retiring to professor emeritus at the University of New England. A prolific writer, Dr. Beaupré has published 24 books. Many of his books are in French or the "frenglish" dialect and capture the essence of the Franco-American culture.

In his interview, Dr. Beaupré covers his experiences going to bi-lingual Catholic schools, the history and transitions of St. Francis College to UNE, the origins of La Kermesse, the impact of his world travels and his work with trans-cultural healthcare. The City of Biddeford, the State of Maine and the Government of France recognized Dr. Beaupré's accomplishments through several awards. Recorded April 22, 2019.
