Coaching in Maine and how to become a good coach

A story by University of New England from 1919 - 2014

In 2006, Dr. John Winkin was the keynote speaker at the Harold Alfond Sports Medicine Lecture at University of New England. He was introduced by Dr. Doug Brown, who told of Winkin's background in playing sports and coaching, especially in Maine for the Waterville American Legion team, Colby College, and University of Maine.

Winkin led the University of Maine Black Bears baseball team to six College World Series berths in an 11-year span. John Winkin then spoke about what makes a good player and how to be a good coach.
