Memories of working at the Criterion Theatre

A story by Vernon L. Cox from 1970-74

Vernon Cox tells his story of working at the theater as a teenager

In the summers from 1970 to 1974 I worked at the Criterion Theater in Bar Harbor as an usher, projectionist, cleaner, and clerk. I became friends with Roy Blake, who started working in theaters there since he was young. He told me about when he had to hand-crank the movies and when the talkies first came into the theaters. I spent four years at the theater and remember it fondly.
