My career working at Pepperell Mills

A story by David Bishop from 1960s-2017

David Bishop talked about his work in the Vellux Blanket division of Pepperell Mills, Biddeford

I started working for Pepperell Mills as a cutter in the Vellux blanket division after I returned from the military. I moved into a position as a fixer, where I repaired machines. The process for creating Vellux blankets is more complex than most people realize, involving a lot of chemical reactions, research, and design work.

After the mill closed, I started volunteering with other former mill workers to create the Biddeford Mills Museum.
