Description
By this time Moxie, which was originally sold as a patent medicine, had clearly entered the realm of soft drinks. The label, which advises that it is more palatable if served ice cold, describes Moxie as "a clean, sparkling, bittersweet tonic beverage." The label also assures the public that the drink has been "prepared under hygienic conditions, and contains carbonate water, sugar, caramel, cinchona, alkaloids and flavorings."
Moxie was "bottled under authority of the Moxie Company, Sole Proprietor and Manufacturers, Boston, Mass." And for many years it was sold at the Jameson & Wotton Wharf.
