Description

The Foster D traveled to the island and coastal communities of Muscongus Bay marked on this nautical chart. During the summer lobstering season, many people lived on the islands and lobstered out of small boats. Sherman Jameson would travel to the islands to buy their catch and transfer it to the pound on Friendship Long Island. When he was ready to sell the lobsters, Jameson would move them to the Jameson and Wotton Wharf.

The Foster D also served as an extension of the wharf store. It delivered groceries, hardware, animal feed, supplies for lobstering, gas and kerosene, and even mail to the islanders.
