Sgt. Horace M. White to mother, April 22, 1863

Description
Sgt. Horace M. White, a member of Co. E of the Maine 1st Cavalry, wrote from Aquia Creek, Virginia, to his mother in Houlton, "I presume you are feeling somewhat conserned about me by this time, especialy if you have heard of the movment of the Cavalry corps."
He then described a skirmish at Rappahannock Station, Virginia. He was not wounded, but later accidentally shot himself in the foot. He was treated at the scene because the calvary was 40 miles beyond Union lines. He was later moved to a new hospital and expected to be moved to Washington.
