Description
The Grand Army of the Republic banner probably was hung on a pole and used at ceremonies and other gatherings. It may have been from Pennsylvania.
It features a common GAR design: an eagle, with the American flag below it, with a five-pointed star beneath the flag.
The points contain symbols of branches of service: navy, infantry, cavalry and artillery.
