Description
John Burton is marked with an X as he stands in a row with other surviving Civil War Veterans. They are standing to attention for a Memorial Day Parade on Main Street in Thomaston in 1890 in front of the Jordan Block, built in 1848.
All are members of the P. Henry Tillson Post #39 of the Grand Army of the Republic in Thomaston. At one time, the Post Hall was located on the second floor of the Jordan Block. Both the American flag and the Post flag can be seen.
