Description

Writing to his sister, Nellie, from Jacksonville, Fla., John Marshall Brown, with the Ames Division, discusses the beauty of Jacksonville and the destruction from Union soldiers in 1863.

He noted that the burning was being investigated. He said it was done by a Maine colonel and the Rev. Col. Higginson.
