On day four things continued to get worse. Maine was declared a disaster area. Now there were 270,000 outages of power and 500,000 people are without power! Over 11,000 Canadian troops came to help. Over 200 electrical crews came to help! Some people were without heat and power for days or weeks even. For heat some people sat in their cars which is a big danger because you might get carbon monoxide poisoning. A man was found dead because he was running a generator in his basement do to carbon-monoxide poisoning and thats what happened on day 4 of the 1998 maine ice storm.
