Description
Hamilton S. Lowell was born on September 23, 1841. He was attending Bowdoin College when the Civil War broke out. He was part of the 12th Reg; Maine Volunteers, Co. E. He was promoted to Captain in 1862 while in General Butler's Division in New Orleans. A gold watch with chain was presented to him for capturing a blockade runner. He died on January 17, 1866 at age 25.
