Description
The Bates Mill Fabric Outlet Sign atop Bates Mill #5, part of the massive Bates Mill complex in downtown Lewiston. Constructed between 1852 and 1923, the 11-building textile Mill was Maine's largest employer in the 1950s. While Bates Mill is no longer in service, the Bates Mill Store is still active and is currently located in the Auburn Mall.
