Description
The Elms Farm was purchased by Boston & Maine Railroad president George Clement Lord in 1881. Mr. Lord made substantial changes to the farmhouse. He raised the roof to add a third floor to the main house and added the expansive porches all around the house. He employed a farm manager and several farmhands.
Circa 1910, George's son Charles renamed the farm "Laudholm Farm" after the name of his estate in Newton, Mass.
