Building demolition, Lubec, ca. 1960

Contributed by Lubec Historical Society

With erection of a span across the International border with Canada imminent, downtown Lubec lost some of its oldtime waterfront fishing industry structures. Demolition activities drew an audience. The Eagle movie theater, partially visible at the right edge of this photograph across Water Street, survived building and opening of the new Roosevelt Memorial bridge to burn on February 9, 1973. The owner was Stanley Sekula, Jr.
