Bogett's or Bogart's Hill, Lubec, 1934

Contributed by Lubec Historical Society

Description

Bogett's Hill, possibly known as Bogart's Hill, is a rise surmounted by the Lubec-Whiting road, state route 189, a few tenths of a mile southwest of South Lubec Road. According to an undated newspaper clipping from the Lubec Herald, "Orrin Miller plowed snow that year with the 'old tractor' that had a huge wing plow on it. Tommy Quirk, Vince Mulholland and Myron Kilby would take turns riding with him on the hill that goes by the Seaview Restaurant and the stand pipe" which is visible above the snow bank on the right.

This photograph was taken soon after the blizzard of January 1934.
