Description
The S.B. Stuart & Co. store on Water Street sold hardware, lumber, and coal from a storage shed in the rear on pilings over the water for delivery by ship. Signs across tops of windows read, “Hardware,” “Painter Supplies,” “Electrical Supplies,” “Building Material,” “Glassware,” “Tools.” Note high-gain TV antenna on roof. Lubec was, and is, far from television broadcast stations. This building still exists and is in commercial use as of 2009.
