Description

Manuscript map #13 of "9 lots on Merrymeeting Bay," in the area of Brunswick and the Kennebec River. Commissioned by the Pejepscot Purchase Company. The majority of the lots listed on this map were owned by Col. Thomas Westbrook, who was one of the Pejepscot Proprietors as well as a mast agent for the King. Wabanaki leader Polin led a 17 year-long dispute over the great dam that Thomas Westbrook was building on the Presumpscot River outside of Falmouth, which blocked the vital fish runs on the and compromised planting grounds.

Place names include Stevens River (now New Meadows River).
