Dixfield High School, Weld Street, Dixfield, 1947

Description

Overcrowding at Dixfield Grammar/High School necessitated the completion of this brand new high school on Weld Street. The doors opened to students on September 15, 1947, at a cost of $140,000. A second story was added in 1951. Since that time, there have been several additions and modernizations completed. The name has also evolved from Dixfield High School to Dixfield Regional High School and finally to its current name Dirigo High School.
