Description
This building complex, viewed from the south, contained the Norcross House hotel and associated businesses. The complex was strategically located next to the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad and the Norcross train station.
The covered porch at the west end of the building surrounded a dining room and sitting area for hotel guests. To the east, the three story portion housed a store and post office on the first floor, and guest rooms above. The large area to the rear contained the kitchen, library, laundry, and storerooms on the first floor, with guest rooms and proprietor's living quarters on the upper floors.
The flat-roofed section to the east contained an open dormitory, located above a less formal dining area used by workmen, a small waiting area, and a covered porch.
The easternmost projection contained a small bar. The outbuilding visible behind the bar housed a woodshed and automobile garage.
The railroad station was torn down in 1953, and the hotel complex was demolished in 1968.
