Hair brooch, Presque Isle, ca. 1860

Contributed by Presque Isle Historical Society

Description

Although not known exactly whose hair this is or for whom they made it to remember, this brooch made from human hair is a good example of a hair brooch made and worn as jewelry to remember the loss of a loved one in the 1860s in the Presque Isle area.
