Kiah Sewall letter on impending marriage, Portland, 1836

Description

Kiah B. Sewall wrote from Portland to his brother Rufus in North Edgecomb to announce his impending marriage to Lucretia Day.

He told his brother it would be "hardly worthwhile" for him to attend the wedding "as there will be no party & we shall leave early in the morning immediately after the ceremony is over."

Sewall and Lucretia Day married on May 16, 1836.
