Description

This 1988 painting was commissioned by Margaret McCaslin, mother of the artist Caroleah Jo MacKechnie. According to Caroleah Jo MacKechnie the barn was gone years before this painting was made. The view looks northwest, with Johnson Bay in the background.

This house is said to date from the mid-19th Century and was located at what is now approximately 44 County Route 189 (lot 6 on Lubec tax map 19), just east of the McNevin house which still stands as of 2013. It was the home of various members of the McCaslin family.
