Description

Boothbay Harbor's Sons of Veterans Camp 70 formed in February of 1908, an offshoot of the local GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) group formed in 1866 by Union veterans of the Civil War. In this photograph they were participating in the September 1919 Welcome Home parade honoring WWI veterans. Their meeting hall, seen decorated behind them, was on McKown Street until it burned in May of 1942.
