Description
This is the response to a petition signed by Samuel Phillips, John Hancock and David Cobb of the Massachusetts legislature granting land to sufferers from the burning of Falmouth (now Portland) by the British in October, 1775.
This is the original land grant for the town of Freeman, giving the land to Samuel Freeman, Enoch Ilsey, Thomas Sanford and Nathaniel Deering, March 2, 1791.
