Montpelier, Thomaston, 1870

This circa 1870 photograph features Montpelier, the home of General Henry Knox and his family.

General Knox resided in this mansion from 1795 until his death in 1806. Members of the Knox family continued to reside at Montpelier until 1854.

The structure was razed in 1871 to make way for the Knox and Lincoln Railroad.
