MGH School of Nursing, Portland, 1950

The Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, Class of 1950, held its baccalaureate service at the Williston Church on May 14. Commencement exercises were held at Portland High School Auditorium on May 19.

In 1950, the hospital created two nursing divisions, medical and surgical, facilitating care of female patients, developed a disaster plan, and hired Dr. Burton Olmstead as the first plastic surgeon in Portland.
