Hoyt Weston Cheney (Trescott ME Jan 29 1893 - Machias ME Dec 29 1971) was a career Coastguardsman who was lightkeeper at West Quoddy Head Light Station in Lubec from 1949 to 1952, along with longtime keeper Howard “Bob” Gray.

Cheney and his wife Inez Brown Cheney parented one child, Carleton, and were grandparents to nine children: Lee Cheney Green, Nikki Ann Cheney Coggins (deceased as of 2013), Pat Cheney Robertson, Steve Cheney, Carleton Cheney, Clifford Cheney, Margaret Ann (Peggy) Cheney Lanoue, Jeri Cheney Malloch, and Thyra Maureen Cheney Kelley. Carleton and Clifford were born at West Quoddy Light Station. Hoyt Cheney is buried in Machias.
