Battle of Gettysburg shell fragment, 1863

Description

The iron base plate for a 12-pound canister shot was found near Little Round Top at the Gettysburg battlefield. Numerous Maine regiments were involved in the Civil War battle at Gettysburg and it is not known which soldier found and saved this shell fragment.
