Seventeen Club, Biddeford, ca. 1920

Description

The Seventeen Club was formed as a ladies club by a group of women in Biddeford around 1920. The club was organized for mail order purchases. Members would pay dues at each meeting and one member per meeting would use all of the money to obtain the purchase of her choice.

Pictured seated in the first row are, from left: Mae Tarr, Katherine Means, Maude Whitehead, and Alice Black.

In the second row, from left are: Helen Harris, Mary Cheney, Florence Walker, and Ada Whitehead.
