Description

This old photograph shows the Dixfield Congregational Church sitting atop Meeting House Hill, formally named High Street, in the 1850s. Most photographs of Dixfield Village, even through 2013, show this beloved church rising as a sentinel and landmark for the town since 1828 when it was built. It is known fondly as "The Church on the Hill" by Dixfield residents.
