Charles Vaughan, Hallowell, ca. 1820

Description

Charles Vaughan (1759-1839) and his wife, Frances Western Apthorp Vaughan were members of the Kennebec Proprietors and moved to Hallowell in 1790.

He managed large tracts of land near the Kennebec River.

The painter of his portrait is thought to be Thomas Badger.
