Description
Electric lighting came to Lubec about twenty years after the nation’s first practical power plant, Edison’s Pearl Street station in Manhattan, began generating electricity for lamp bulbs. This initial Lubec generating plant was located on the water side of Water Street surrounded by fish processing factories. It was later expanded to provide street and business lighting until Municipal Town of Lubec Electric generation arrived, in the early 1920s.
