Description

A letter to Sarah Tarbox from Ruth Thomas when both girls were age 13 and living and attending school on Westport Island.

Sarah Tarbox (b. 01-07-1823, Westport, ME [Edgecomb until 1828]) was one of 12 children of Mary "Polly" Brown and Samuel Tarbox, a wealthy landowner, farmer, state legislator and Westport Island town father.

Ruth Thomas (b. 11-14-1822) writes with an earnest message of hope that both girls strive to improve themselves in their remaining school days.
