Description

George R. Cushing's Blacksmith Shop was one of several blacksmith shops in early Princeton. This blacksmith shop was listed in the Maine Register for only one year - "1916-17".

Blacksmith shops were very important for the logging industry since they made horse shoes and logging tools. Horses were not only used for agricultural purposes on the farms and transportation, but were the main source of power for transporting logs out of the woods to bodies of water or to log yards for many years.
