Description

A view of Congress Street captures the Rumford Post Office and Town Hall in this 1930s-era postcard. Although Congress Street, Rumford's main thoroughfare and business district, was originally open to traffic going both ways, it has long been a one-way street. This postcard may depict a transitional time: a "Do Not Enter" sign sits in the middle of the street toward the right in the background, and a foreground intersection marker alerts drivers to "Keep Right."
