Steamer "Brandon," ca.1925

Contributed by Friendship Museum

Description

In this postcard the steamboat Brandon dwarfs the Jameson & Wotton Wharf where it is tied up. It was sent to Maine from Virginia by the Eastern Steamboat Company when steamboat traffic on the James River became unprofitable. Unfortunately, the Brandon's service on the Portland-Rockland-Lubec run lasted only a few years, as the steamboat activity was waning in Maine as well.
