Road to the harbor, ca. 1910

Contributed by Friendship Museum

Description

This is a view of the Jameson and Wotton houses taken from the shore, looking north towards the Friendship town center. The Jameson house is on the left and the Wotton House is on the right.

When Sherman married Mima Davis in 1894, he bought a lot from Walter Wotton and built an elegant house across the road from Wotton's property. When Walter Wotton married Mary Etta in 1900, he built a fine home for his new bride across the road from Jameson.

Both houses were situated at the highest point of land in the village. Their location gave them a commanding view of the harbor, Davis Point, and the Jameson & Wotton Wharf.
