Contributed by Northeast Harbor Library

This photograph taken around 1985 shows the Asticou Inn located on Peabody Drive in Northeast Harbor.

The first Asticou Inn was built in 1883 by the architect Fred L. Savage. It was destroyed by a fire in September of 1900. By the Spring of 1901 a new inn was designed by Savage and erected in the same spot. As of 2013, the Asticou Inn remains in the same spot on Peabody Drive in Northeast Harbor and is open to guests.
