Description
The Burnt Cove Schoolhouse at Stonington, ca. 1940.
When the building was no longer a school, it became the Island Fish and Game for Stonington and Deer Isle.
The house on the hill directly behind the school was built in 1812 by the Fifields who had acquired the land in lieu of payment by Massachusetts. It has been continously owned by a Fifield since that date.
