MGH School of Nursing, Portland, Class of 1954

Members of the 71st graduating class of the Maine General Hospital School of Nursing held their commencement February 11, 1954 at Frye Hall.

This was the last class to wear the MGH caps. Subsequent classes wore the tri-cornered Maine Medical Center caps. Five members of this class remained as staff nurses at the hospital.

Maine General Hospital is the predecessor of Maine Medical Center.

Class members are, front row from left, Alice M. Crone, Charlene J. Dufton, Bessie L. Gilman, Gloria L. Grant, and Gilberte F. Landry. At rear, from left, are Renee R. Leprade, Angela Lucarelli, Charlotte A. Madsen, Joan I. McLean, and Pauline A. Watt.
