Description
Once the home of Calvin “Coochie” Case, this house has been replaced by a trailer at 1 South St. South Street is visible in the foreground of this image and the Ocean View Nursing Home is out of view to the left.
The house barely seen on the right fronts Washington Street as number 56, and is still in place but vacant in 2012. The fire hydrant, at the corner of School and Washington, also remains. The purpose of the boards affixed to the corner of the house is not at hand.
Coochie Case was a popular "folk" performer in Lubec, bringing charismatic stage presence to offerings such as "The Peanut Butter Song" and "The Pothole Song."
