Standpipe, Lubec, 1975, 1975

Contributed by Lubec Historical Society

Description

At the time of the photograph this standpipe or water tower had been in place for over sixty years. It was located on the north side of County Route 189, near the Pumping Station Road junction on the south side. The standpipe was replaced by a new water storage tower atop the hill in Lubec “village” in the later 20th Century. As of 2012 the house remains, occupied, painted white. It was once owned by Mary and Malcolm Dodge, and before that, Plaisted and June Libby.
