Frederick Archer recital poster, Portland, 1887

Description

Frederick Archer (1838-1901), a British organist, moved to the U.S. in 1880 and worked as an organist in Brooklyn, Boston and Pittsburgh.

On Saturday April 23, 1887 Archer held an organ recital at the Chestnut Street Church in Portland.

The announcement reads, "Organ Recital, by the celebrated New York organist, Frederick Archer, Chestnut St. Church, Saturday April 23, 1887."
