67th General Hospital War Unit, Portland, 1942

Description

Officers of the 67th General Hospital War Unit, Maine Division, outside the entrance to Maine General Hospital. The unit, under the command of Lt. Col. Roland Moore, M.D., trained at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, before being shipped to a hospital in Taunton, England during WWII, and included 35 women officers from the MGH nursing ranks. Identification of the officers depicted here is left to right front row, beginning with the first name on the list.

Maine General Hospital is a predecessor of Maine Medical Center.
