Description

The Westbrook post office depicted in the postcard was built between 1935 and 1936 using funds allocated by the Treasury Department. It contained the New Deal oil-on-canvas mural “Woodsmen in the Woods of Maine,” which was completed by Waldo Peirce in 1937 and later relocated to the Portland Museum of Art. When the post office was decommissioned, the building became the site of a bank.

A Tichnor Brothers postcard of the Westbrook Post Office.

The caption reads, "Post Office, Westbrook, Maine."
