Description
The first city hall in Lewiston dedicated in 1872 and burned down in January of 1890. The plans were drawn up by a Mr. Meacham of Boston and was made of brick with granite trim and a Gothic style with a mansard roof (from a newspaper article by Geneva Kirk, Nov. 7, 1981). It had 80 rooms with the police department and prison in the basement and the library and post office on the first floor among other rooms.
