Description

Horatio, brother of Charles Cole Co K, 25th ME Infantry, sends news from home - how many bushels of potatoes they've dug, how many quarts of acorns the younger children have collected. Their mother has made a new shirt for Charles and wants very much for him to come home for a visit. He mentions that Mrs. Decker, their neighbor, has had news of her brother Edwin Witham, who was wounded in battle. News has come that another Sebago soldier, Daniel D Martin, was wounded in the leg and was taken prisoner. Charles' father Benjamin warns Charles not to sell his orders at a discount and to protect himself.
