Description
William Haley Jr. of Sebago wrote on the back of a song tract "The Battle of Gettysburg" to his daughter and niece.
He describes his life in the camp near Alexandria. He works in the cook house and says he lives "first rate," describing his meals. His current job is to “help set the table help put on the grub then help clear of the table" and nothing more until there is "a squad ready to go away."
He states he goes to a meeting almost every evening in a meeting house built for the soldiers. He encourages his daughter Elzira and niece Mary to learn the song on the tract.
