Lt. Charles Bridges examination orders, Louisiana, 1863

Description

Charles Bridges, a Castine native, serving as 1st Lieutenant of H Company, 8th Infantry Corps d'Afrique, was commanded to report to the office of the medical director of the Department of the Gulf for an examination.

Bridges had suffered chronic diarrhea for several months and had tendered his resignation in August, but it was refused. Orders are signed by G.B. Halsted, George E. Smallwood, Charles C. Hudson.
